Low scores in Onslaught

I don't understand the scoring in Onslaught. One strategy guide claims you
get points for building a PowerNode, destroying a PowerNode, destroying a
partial PowerNode, and so on.

I play Onslaught from time to time, and tend to frag very few people, as I
focus on getting the PowerNodes. I just played one game, and I built a
PowerNode, destroyed another, and I still had 0 points while the top player
on my team (who was getting a lot of frags) had about 15-20.

Do different servers have different scoring systems?

I like team games, but you don't seem to get the same sort of point reward
for working as a team (rather than being a fragger) as you would in, say,
RTCW where you can easily win on points without killing anyone at all. That
said, Deathmatch is still very enjoyable, as I can fully understand that
system ;-)

I've never walked away from building a node without a higher score.

How did you build them? Did you link up? If you link up and you're not in
front, you don't get any points (a problem in my opinion which atari should
fix, there should be score boosts for linking up)

I suppose it's possible, but doubtful

From what I can tell a good combination of building and fighting gets you a
lot of points, and it seems to me the more variation you have the more
points you get, but this is just me and I could be wrong.

This is true. I believe it's 5 points for building/destroying a full power
node. You can also get 3 points for having the last shot on the enemy power
core, and you get points for various other things.

I've played a lot of Onslaught. I've always ignored the frag fights and gone
for the nodes, and consistently have a much higher score than my teammates.
Plus we win, another bonus.

Agreed, I've been the only one to even attack the power core before, usually
getting killed, but I still took down the entire power core in between 2 or
3 deaths.

Yeah, it ain't perfect, but I know if I saved the day and nabbed that
middle node just in time. Even if the scoreboard says I'm pants....
