Low Signal/Speed on Desktop while Laptop is Flawless

Hi,

So I have been having this issue for sometime now. I have a Broadcom 802.11g Network Adaptor. I have routinely been getting very low connection signals (1-2 bars) and speeds which is very annoying. At college I was around 10 feet from the modem/router (comcast blast internet) and I was having low signal. I luckily was just able to use an ethernet connection. I am at home now (Verizon FiOS), and there is around 60 feet and 1 floor between my computer and the modem/router. The same issue is happening and I cannot run an ethernet connection. My laptop in both college and here at home has a great wireless connection in the same spot.

I have no idea what to do.

Here is what I have tried:

Updated the drivers of the network adapter.
Changed the wireless channels.
Disabled and re-enabled the network adapter.

Please help me fix this, this is a very annoying problem for me and I would love if someone could help me fix this issue. If you need any additional information I will provide it to you right away.

did you try to update the wireless driver for that broadcom adaptor ?
