Low speeds?

I have a 11mps connection(Thats fast right?)
But my downloads are 500kps MAX. Im thinking its my router since its
about 6 years old. Any other problems possibly?

Are you sure you are not getting Bytes per second (note the large B) per second mixed up with bits per second (small b) per second?

If your downloads are actually 500 kBps then that is actually over 4mbps.
