Low tech person, keep 6-7 screens open, including videos/streaming music. Also download multiple CD's . Current desktop is slow & often freezes. I've read multiple reviews on Asus and Acer. I get confused on the specs. Example, is a 3.1 UBS Port that better than a 3.0?

I could go up to $800+, but just not sure what that gives me.

usually you get what you pay for. if you do not need a $800 computer then just get the $500...

Thank you. I had seen an Acer desktop at $34 less than on Amazon. I am truly not very knowledgeable about computers. Every 5 or so years I have to relearn the terms when I shop. That said, I am uncomfortable about buying such items at Walmart.

The ASUS M32CD Desktop (Core i5, 8GB, 1TB, Windows 10) seems more than enough to satisfy my needs.

However, would going from under $500 to $800 really give me much more? I don't do gaming. And, I can add another hard drive to store my CD's. What are your thoughts on going up to $800.

usually you get what you pay for. if you do not need a $800 computer then just get the $500 one. the better pc you get the faster it will be and the longer it will last, and might even have better quality components that you could upgrade in the future to save from replacing the whole pc again in a few years. if all you need to do is surf the web, check emails, watch youtube and other basic computing tasks then the $500 pc should be fine. i would recommend spending as much as you feel comfortable spending.
