I built a new pc two days ago and have been experiencing constant hard crashes when under load (cinebench and aida64 run for ~15 sec until hard crash, cant open 3dmark without crashing). BIOS is updated to the latest version, all drivers are updated to their latest versions, temps are always low before the crash (68c @ 100% cpu utilization), memtest86 passed with no errors, check disk passed with no errors, no memory/CPU/GPU OC everything is stock, reset bios cmos, windows updated to latest version, cant find anything in event log but also not sure what to look for. Any ideas here would be really helpful.

Here is the build:

I have had several doa's of that specific ssd you posted that would be me key place to start for you... They work to a extent then crash under loads.... They used to be what I would upgrade ps4's with as well till I started to learn their flaws. I hope this helps

is there any specific tests you ran that exposed the wd black m2 as the culprit? after googling it seems that this is a problem for some, but im unsure how to be certain that the m2 is the problem

I believe they're speaking of the SATA drive.

Disconnect anything unimportant to your build peripherals wise. I'd also suggest pulling any storage drives and just leaving OS drive in. Unfortunately you didn't get a CPU with IGP or I'd suggest pulling the GPU as well. Start there and see if anything changes.

I have seen some info about bad 6900XTs still in the wild so if you have another machine you could test that in just to rule it out that'd be an option, or a spare GPU to test your system with.

I'd have to agree it's nothing temperature related so that'd mostly point to PSU/motherboard if the above suggestions net nothing.
