Low Valley benchmark score gigabyte gtx 970 g1

I was only getting 20 fps in gta5 game with nvidia recommended settings. I then ran a valley benchmark on extreme hd and got a score of 629 with max 26fps. This is a horrible score. Whats going on with my gpu?

is it in the highest slot on your motherboard?

I built the pc in March and it was running great for the longest time. I was getting mid 50 fps on max setting in gta5 and the witcher 3. Now im getting 20. And yes its in the right slot.

have you tried giving the computer a cleaning and removing dust and is it getting getting hotter than usual?

Its very clean, no dust and running cool.

have you tried taking the gpu out and putting it back in i did have a similar issue but only with an APU

Ha! That did it!, i guess when i cleaned my pc a week or 2 ago i didnt have the gpu properly seated, maybe. But it was running games fine until this a.m. which is strange. But i just re-ran valley and right away was in the 50s and maxed at 90fps so i stopped it.
