Lower FPS when using a HDMI cable?

I have a 144 mhz monitor and ive been using a DVI cable for 3 years now and forgot about it

I get around 30 to 170 FPS in fallout 4 with the dvi cable in 1080 p


whats wierd is when I unplug my dvi cable and use a hdmi cable i get around 30 to 60 frames in 1080 p seems to be capped ?

what is going on ?


Is a dvi cable better for displays then hdmi ?

what mhz was the monitor running at when using the dvi & hdmi cables?

Check the specs on the monitor. Some monitors do cap certain inputs. If the monitor has more than one HDMI input, I would try the other one and see.

144 hertz

I only have 1 hdmi 1 dual dvi and 1 displayport

Your monitor supports 85Hz, 100Hz, 120Hz, and 144Hz only via DVI or DisplayPort connections. Everything else is @ 60Hz. Look for "Supported Operating Modes" in your user manual.
