Hey there Tom, I've pretty much decided on this system (as pasted below). This build is meant to maximize ram with the new DDR4 and give me a relevant CPU.

I am curious if I can make a high quality build with a ton of ram and decent gfx for cheaper. Should I think of a different socket?

The 1150 socket is not old. It is just different. In fact the 2011 socket is OLDER by a significant number of years. Like 3.

YEs the x99 CPUs and DDR4 RAM will not give you ANY additional gaming performance. They are for workstations, not gaming computers. Just a waste of money for gaming.

It is NOT better for the future. There is no such thing as future proof. The 6 core will be more powerful for rendering when compared to the 4790 ONLY if you are rendering 1080P+ 2hour+ projects on a very regular basis. For youtube videos, there will never be a difference felt at all.

I would NEVER recommend x99 and DDR4 for gaming. Plus the GPU you have is weak for the rest of the hardware. That's a $1400 computer than will only play games at...

Tiny, I do alot of rendering, especially Element 3d in After Effects. I would like it to be useful for gaming and streaming also, as this is my second passion. Please explain how this is all wrong. Thanks. I'm a bit behind on technology

The GPU is too weak. You selected a 4gb model which is pointless as it isn't even powerful enough to use 4gb.

what would be the point of getting the older socket instead of the x99 socket with the ddr4?
were you alluding to the fact that the x99 cpu and ddr 4 will not perform well for gaming?
I do understand that all 6 cores will not be utilized for most games, but I want to hope that
will change in the future. Also, I thought the 6core would be more powerful for rendering.
