[SOLVED] Lowering Core/Package Temps??

How would I go about lowering core temperatures. i7 8700k is running at 73C under load, while my core package is hitting 77-80C max at 1.368v max value.

Lowering the voltage is the best option but if you're overclocked you might not be able to go much lower.

Yeah I lowered voltage with a negative offset of .075. Max voltage for Vcore is 1.248-1.25. Ran Aida64 (CPU,FPU,Cache) test and hit 85-90C for core package, 82C for CPU after 5min of running. I'm not overclocked though, these are stock settings.

Keep going lower that's still a good bit more than I suspect it needs. What cooler are you using?

Ok. I'm running the Hyper 212 Evo (not up to task). Will lowering voltage affect the clock speeds?

You're going to have to lower it on that cooler. Going lower on voltage can't hurt anything it just might become unstable if you go too low and require you to go back up. The 212 is not really meant to keep a 6c12t cpu cool but if your chip will let you lower the vcore enough staying stable it might work.

So I put it at -.105 offset and Aida64 is showing Max CPU temp of 69C and Max Core temp of 80C but HWMonitor is showing the max core temp as 90C and Max CPU temp of 80C. Which one to trust??

I never use hwmonitor because it seems all over the place sometimes. try hwinfo64

Yeah I ran it with HwInfo64 and CPU package was showing 83C and CPU under motherboard was showing 69C Max. not sure which one to follow..

I've always had better luck with hwinfo.

And if that was stable go lower the lower you get it the better it is for everything
