Sorry, can't recommend you an intel motherboard, I said if you went with AMD then I could help ><. Maybe someone else can help.

Gigabyte Pwns MAN! Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. But just like other board makes, ASUS, Intel, ASRock, they have their share of problems (minor or big). There is no board out there that is perfect!!!

I know. There are some that are worse than others though.

This is what I'm gonna buy:
Case: Antec Three Hundred
PSU: Antec Basiq BP430
HDD: WD Caviar Black WD5001AALS 500
GPU: Radeon HD 4770 512mb
CPU: Core 2 Duo E8400 6 MB
Ram: Kingston 2 x 2 GB
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-G31M-ES2L

The case and PSU are what I'm trying to 'slack' on, which I know can bite me in the long run. Are there any cheaper cases/PSU's I could buy without destroying the setup completely?

I think that should be fine, get a better PSU if you can though, the case if good.

I once again recommend a OCZ Fatal1ty 550w PSU if you can find one.

Why an e8400?

if you can go with an amd 720 BE it will be just as good in current games and have the extra core for future games, you'll see a major improvement if you get a 720 BE and 780G motherboard instead.

Haven't had much luck with AMD so far.. Also, the E8400 is cheaper in Denmark

yeah but you chose a board which won't OC very well to go with it.

If you choose an e8 series processor it makes sense to get a board which oc's well (one with a P/X4x chipset) since they are the best overclocking Core 2's you can buy.

Which is also why I asked for some advice regarding the mobo. I'm fairly new at this so I have no clue as to which is good.

Point me in the right direction, please 😛
