Hi,
I have a supermicro "x8st3-f" with a LSI 1068E and SAS drives. After installation of Centos I see:
lspci -nn:
05:00.0 SCSI storage controller [0100]: LSI Logic / Symbios Logic MegaRAID SAS 8208ELP/8208ELP [1000:0059] (rev 08)

and
lsmod:
mptsas 51992 2
mptscsih 36636 1 mptsas
mptbase 93615 2 mptsas,mptscsih

First I don't know why it is not 1068e in lspci? and now I would like to have a management and monitoring tool over this card but MegaCli64 and mpt-status and MegaRAID Storage Manager cant find the card (Even they are installed successfully)!

Solution
General census is that this card has pos drivers and is basically unsupported by LSI.

If you search redhat+lsi 1068e you will see others with the same issue. Get a better raid card with good drivers or just use software RAID like ZFS or mdadm
