LSI Raid controller pci x8 in PCI x16 ?

Hello, I am willing to buy a LSI 9260-8i Raid controller eBay for about $50. Therefore it is a PCI x8 card but I got have a x8 card on my motherboard (INTEL DH61WW). Can I put this controller in PCI x16 slot isn't ?

Mainly having this card to have sata 3 (6 Gbps) as my motherboard have sata 2 (3gbps) only. I will be doing a RAID Setup (raid 6). What should I do ? Please Help.

pci is not the same as pcie slot
