I have a LSI MegaRAID SAS 9260-4i 4-Port 6Gb/s PCI-E x8 Adapter with 1 SFF-8087 connector. I have an Intel® RAID Expander RES2SV240 which has 24 ports through 6 SFF-8087 connectors.
These 2 cards are installed in a Norco RPC-4224 4U Rackmount Server Case. The Norco has 6 internal SFF-8087 Mini SAS connectors that support up to twenty-four drives.
I have the 1 SFF-8087 connector on the LSI RAID card connected to 1 of the SFF-8087 connectors on the RES2SV240 RAID expander. I had 4 of the remaining 5 connectors on the RAID expander connected to 4 of the 6 connectors on the Norco RPC-4224 for a total of 16 drives.
This configuration has been working well. I have now connected the last remaining connector on the RAID expander to 1 of the 2 remaining connectors on the Norco RPC-4224 for an additional 4 drives (20 total). The server now boots up with an error message "A discovery error has occurred, please powercycle the system and all the enclosures attached to this system."
Any ideas on how to correct this?
