I'm having some problems with my current NAS so I'm thinking of moving the drives and raid controller over to a new motherboard, processor and ram. Does anyone know if I'll be able to do this without losing any data from the drives. Using an LSI 9260 card in raid 5 if it helps.

Solution
The way you do that is to move the critical data elsewhere and offline.
Then move the actual RAID drives into the new system.
If/when it works, then you move your critical data back onto the RAID drives.
If it doesn't work, then you rebuild the whole RAID array from scratch, then move your critical data back onto the RAID drives.

You could try to wing it, but what happens if it doesn't work? What will you do?
