Virtu MVP is garbage I have had nothing but problems with it. I installed the latest version & INTEL QUICK SYNC does NOT WORK. This is looney tunes software & I'm not going to put up with this. I don't have time for AMATEUR SOFTWARE PROGRAMMERS. Goodbye WINDOWS the PC is going back to the store & I'm buying an APPLE I MAC PRO a computer that runs.

for that software to run you need to have one of the newer intel motherboards and cpu. in the bios it has to have muilt monitor under display output snd you have to turn it on. then install the newest intel igpu drivers. when you do you have to go into the mvp software and set it up for your games and aps.

Lucid MVP is completely unusable. I was surprised at how many issues it had.

However, I have an awesome gaming PC that has no current issues so you should solve them then enjoy your system.

Since your issue is with Virtu MVP you obviously play games. Do you realize the Apple PC would be more expensive with far less games that would work on it?

I have been in the computer business for many years. I have an ASUS Maximus VI Formula with a INTEL 4770K with 32GB RAM Windows 8.1. I also have the MULTI MONITOR SUPPORT enabled in BIOS to enable Lucid Logix Virtu MVP. The software was working OK in Windows 7 64BIT but when I upgraded to Windows 8.1 it STOPPED working & I have all the latest drivers installed even the latest INTEL HD 4600 drivers that is on INTEL's sight plus I have NVIDIAS latest driver for my GTX 770 which I'm using for my primary display video card.

Lucid Virtu MVP really is garbage.
Here's part of a correspondence I had with LucidLogix but before I paste it i'd like to explain just one thing.

You can't really get "HIGHER FRAMERATES" as reported. I've seen numbers from Lucidlogix showing over 2x the frame rate but it's complete and utter crap. What's actually happening is the software keeps DROPPING FRAMES in an attempt to stay synched to the monitor's refresh but without the lag caused by actually using a VSYNC buffer.

So you get what is called "RUNT FRAMES" which are small partial frames which aren't displayed, but FRAPS reports it as another frame.

Anyway, I'll just post one of my e-mails with the company which used an OLDER version, but I tried the latest and the issues are so many I gave up. Don't misunderstand me though it COULD work but a much, much better solution is G-Sync:

"I did the review because many people asked me to because they could not:
a) Install the product properly, and/or
b) Use the product.

I figured out how to use the product, however it simply didn’t work well. For example:
1) I tried to use “i-Mode” simply to save power, however some games wouldn’t run so I had to go back to plugging into the discrete graphics card.
2) Virtual VSync caused many issues.

NONE of the people I talked to (about 20) that managed to get the product installed and tried it could get things working well enough and ALL of them simply removed the software and disabled the iGPU reference in the BIOS.

What NEEDS to happen:
1) Setup is better explained (BIOS and software). I figured it out, most would not.
2) The Virtu MVP Control Panel has no HELP section that I could find (was I turning things on locally or globally? What does checking the “H” mean and so on. Confusing.)
3) “i-Mode” is problematic. It should just “work” however it’s not that simple, especially if you have many applications to add to the list and if a single one doesn’t work (like a game) you are stuck because you would have to physically unhook the monitor cable and setup in “d-Mode” again.
4) Virtual VSYNC and Hyperformance setup was confusing.
5) Several games that were listed as working did NOT.
6) Don’t show me games in the Virtu Control Panel that I don’t own. "

*After I initially installed the software and realized it was crap, I went to the website to look for an update. That's when I found that I'd have to pay $50 to $80 for the new software that improved things.

I'm going to do another review soon to see if the latest updates tip the balance in favor of it being worth the hassle.

So you are going to return you PC because a crap piece of software does not work on a really great OS and that software has NOTING at all to do with Windows what so ever. Virtu MVP was crap on Windows 7 it is crap on Windows 8.1 nothing has changed. And as far as a Mac that just runs well I have had more kernel panics on my real Mac than I ever have had BSOD on my PC. Infact I dual boot Windows 8.1 and OS X 10.9.1 on my i5 3570K rig and have not had even one kernel panic running my Hackintosh. I can't say that about my real Mac Pro or iMac! Plus a real Mac is just standard PC hardware running OS X nothing special there at all except for almost double the price.

Jan 21: Your link gives a 404.

Here's another vote for Virtu MPV == crap. It never worked for me but I left it on the box (yes the motherboard is designed for it). Now under 8.1 I can't login, I can't run safe mode, and I don't know the command lines for wmic to uninstall it. Any one here actually have something that might help? I see lots of noise, not much signal ...

Thanks for letting me know, it looks like they gave their site quite an overhaul. Anyways, here's the new link:

http://lucidlogix.com/free-upgrade/

Upgrade, and your issues will all be solved :)

Or uninstall will solve it. :) Thanks for the link, I tried it and the machine does again work with MVP 2.0 installed, and they were kind enough to send an activation key after I registered. Interestingly there was an old problem that is now gone as well (some kind of edge flicker causing white banding to appear across the display), but my system still seems to look a bit better with MVP turned off. Performance may be somewhat better, I'll have to find a test.

Anyway, the missing bit of *important* information that I needed was that switching from the Samsung LCD TV (on the DMI port) to an old 1024x768 LCD Sharp monitor allowed me to get into safe mode. If that had not have worked I would have pulled the Radeon 7700 serise card out and tried to run off the i7's built in VGA... I uninstalled Virtu MVP and was able to get back up.
