You'll need to find a way into the robot room next. You don't need to do
anything in the hangar now until the end of the game. Also, experiment with
the gizmos, because you'll need them in a little while.

What are the gizmos used for? I played through the game without even
finding them.

Whoa.... really? I found it hard to figure out (and subsequently used the
hints). I thought they were necessary to get through the game. I didn't know
that an alternate path would take you through without them. Okay, well here
goes...

Well, i'm still stuck.

older gizmo: The more banged-up gizmo is now pointed at the large

Nothing happens. Perhaps you can only blast one thing at a time.
newer gizmo: A brilliant white light flashes from the gizmo! The large
machine seems unaffected.
older gizmo: A brilliant white light flashes from the gizmo! The large

You don't need them here. I think the answer is pretty simple, but offhand,
I don't remember. Maybe you just hit it as Austin...? I'm not sure now.

Can you pull up the floor?

---- Mike.

Archived from groups: rec.games.int-fiction (More info?)

Ehm... Yes i know.
But... unfortunately, since i'm not english, i probably don't catch all
the hints.
Furthermore one can't "rollback" dialogues, so talking to Emily/Austin
NOW (after
all Talk to) gives no 'hints' to me.
One of the last hints was to, somehow, break the "robot-generating"
machine.
I've thought point to machine, blast gizmos and then squeeze gizmos
but...
Do u suggest me to restore an old game and re-read carefully the
dialogues?
In any case, thanks.

Rob, remember that Luminous Horizon does have built-in hints. TALK TO your
sibling in order to see them. Using TALK TO several times in a row will
give you more and more blatant hints, and occasionally your sibling will
actually just solve the puzzle for you.

This is good advice from Paul. I had a problem with the floor puzzle
myself, I gave the right command but it didn't work, though I couldn't
reproduce it. TALK TO does help in this situation.

Also note that the gizmos are an optional sollution to their puzzle,
at least I never figured them out and I still one the game.

As far as I know, they're merely a red herring. The dodge game can be
completed without using them (their pattern will naturally result in the
attacks firing at the same time), and perhaps even faster since you don't
have to wait for the stunning effects to wear off.

The gizmos also seem to require two turns to fire - one to point them at a
target, and one to squeeze. This makes them only marginally useful, as
there's only one part of the game where there is enough time to activate
them.

I think you just need to zap machine. It takes some patience, though -
repeat until you break it.

If he's where I think he is, this was the part where I couldn't
wheedle any hints out of either of them.

Hmm, really? That's worrisome. If either of you have transcripts you could
send me to indicate where the lack of hinting occurs, that would be
awesome.

Uh, blast didn't work because it's the verb for lightning blasts. It
thought you wanted to BLAST two gizmos, and you can only blast one at
a time, thus disintigrating it. Squeeze is squeezing the trigger.

No way.
Tried to zap machine but it won't break.
Tried to blast the newer gizmo, point it to the machine and squeeze.
No way.
Think i'm going to play the "second place" game in the comp. 😀

I'm assuming that you're still stuck in the West Corridor. If so:

(As Emily)
BLAST MACHINE
Z
Z
Z

Or, alternately, again starting as Emily:
BLAST MACHINE
C

Or, alternately, as Austin:
Try to go south from the West Corridor. The game will stop you, but the
hint system will recognize that you're trying to solve this puzzle. Then,
from there:
TALK TO EMILY
G
G
G
G

You aren't zapping the machine in the right manner:

>SHOOT MACHINE
>WAIT
>WAIT
>WAIT

Alternativly, you can just keep talking to Emily - she will either tell you
what to do or solve the puzzle by herself.
