M.2 4x vs sata ssd

Solution
So you are rending out 4K out at 1080 then and it wants 46 hours for a 5 hours video?

Yea I don't know how much a M.2 would help. If you think of it this way

900GB of files
SSD Read and write about 500 each if you average out all the brands

that is 1GB every two seconds
30GB every minute
and 1800GB an hour (This is theoretical max for sequential write)

It could move the amount of data you have in 30 minutes if the conditions were right and even with 4K each RAW file is what? anywhere from 5-50MB?

Not nearly enough info here. You can't just choose one part in isolation.

A PC is a whole system. With a crappy CPU, the drive difference does not matter. Same with RAM. If you're trying to do this with 3GB RAM, it will be slow.
On your motherboard, does the m.2 suck up PCI-E lanes, hampering the GPU?
Is this the OS drive, or a secondary drive you are writing to? If secondary (and it should be), what is the OS drive?

etc, etc, etc.

Currently running 5930k with a single 980ti planing on going sli later I did a test on render time for a 5760x1080 on a wd black vs 850 pro ssd and it took off about 20seconds on a 2min video 8gb raw avi

Forgot to say the test was to compress it to 1920x1080 MP4

Going from an HDD to an SSD, huge benefit
Going from an SSD to an m.2 SSD, much smaller benefit.

Would it be faster? Probably. Enough to warrant the price? Only you can determine.

honestly, from the video converting experience, and having a buddy who had a black magic that does 2.5K, a SSD does make a difference but also the CPU and you got a monster of a CPU.

Honestly in my opinion i would load that PC up with RAM and just do a RAM drive for the rendering if you really need the speed but even then I don't think you will see as big of a difference as the SSD can already read and write faster than what the PC can probably render out at.

Asus x99 duluxe and the reason I was asking is because rendering 4K it took 16h and it still said it had 30h left for a 5h avi video ruffly 900Gb file 1920x1080 it seams to breeze through it compared to my old system
