[SOLVED] M.2 970 EVO won´t show up in windows

I recently bought a B450-F MB, and also picked up a M.2 SSD. I have installed it, and can see it in both the BIOS and in the device manager. But it does not show up in the disk manager.

I have spend the last few hours looking for solutions, but nothing works.

I have tried both M.2 slots

Consult your motherboard manual as only one of the slots may support NVMe SSD's. Second, when accessing Disk Management, be sure to right click on it and select "Run as Administrator". This should allow you to see the disk and initialize it.

May be a stupid question, but I do not know how to acces it as administrator. I acces via control panel > adminstration

If you can open Disk Management AND see other drives (just not the 970), then it's not a rights issue.

Both M.2 slots on that board support PCIe drives. Only one is active if you use an APU though...

Perhaps updating he driver for it might work through device manager since you can see it there. Try that and see if that helps.

I figured it out! I found a 3rd party app called AOMEI Partition Assistant, and when I opened it, it registred the new disk!

Sounds like the drive just wasn't initialized, although it should've prompted you when opening DiskManagement - and should've shown in Diskpart.
