Question m.2 980 pro 2tb new ssd issues

Is it possible for a power supply to be the issue when having issues with an m.2 ssd dropping out?
I have an asrock z370 extreme 4 motherboard with an 960 500gb as the os drive in m.2 slot 1 and have recently purchased a 2tb 980 pro to put in slot 2. It seems to work fine when transferring files from a sata ssd at 500mb/s but when I transfer data from the other nvme at 2gb/s+ the driveseems ok with small files but a large folder or files of 50gb+ fail and give an error (0x800701B1) and then the drive stops being recognized by windows and samsung magician until I restart the PC. I found a forum on reddit where some people had the same issues with their 2nd m.2 slot and changing their power supplies apparently fixed the issues. One person mentioned the 3.3v dropping to 2.9-3v when transferring files at high speed and HWmonitor says I have 3.2v at most and it drops to 3v when transferring at high speed. I thought the motherboard controlled these voltages?

Anyway, I built my PC diy and am fairly tech savy so I have tried all the obvious trouble shooting tasks like updating drivers/firmware, etc and Samsung magician says the drive is healthy so I believe it has to be the motherboard or the power supply? My sata drive is connected to sata port 3 which does not interfere with the m.2 slots and I have made sure it's running at pcie gen 3x4 which SM also confirms. The only thing I haven't tried yet is a motherboard bios update but it says that's irreversible and I assume it's not needed if the bios is detecting my drive fine? If I could rule out the power supply as the issue or confirm that it could be the culprit then this would be greatly appreciated :)

Update:
Asrock z370 Extreme 4, Intel i5 8600k (delidded) with a mild overclock at 4.9ghz (+50mv offset), 16gb 3200mhz gskill trident memory, NZXT 240mm x53 aio, Antec earthwatts 650w modulaor power supply.
Drives: 500gb samsung 960 nvme OS drive with Windows 10 pro, a 2tb samsung 860 evo and now most recently a 2tb 980 pro with heatsink this is giving me problems.

Update your post to include full system hardware specs and OS information.

Including the PSU and all drives.

= = = =

This:

"when I transfer data from the other nvme at 2gb/s+ the driveseems ok with small files but a large folder or files of 50gb+ fail and give an error (0x800701B1) and then the drive stops being recognized by windows and samsung magician until I restart the PC"

Look in Reliability History/Monitor and Event Viewer.

What you are looking for is some error code, warning, or even an informational event that occurs when the drive stops being recognized.

Reliability Monitor is much more user friendly and the timeline format can reveal patterns.

Event Viewer requires more time to learn how to navigate and understand the log information being provided.

To help:

How To - How to use Windows 10 Event Viewer | Tom's Hardware Forum (tomshardware.com)

In both tools any given entry can be clicked for more details. The details may or may not be helpful.

I have looked in event viewer and found several "disk errors" throughout my troubleshooting period but there are only two different types of errors. One of them reads:
"An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk0\DR0 during a paging operation."
the other one reads: "Disk 3 has been surprise removed".
There is also the log from microsoft that the drive is missing and data that was copying may have been corrupted or lost.
None of these errors seem to give me any useful information about why the drive is stopping.
Does this help you solve it?

Ultimately I would love to know if my power supply could be the issue as I have found a few other sources that say swapping the power supply fixed it for them...

Use Samsung Magician and do a diagnostic scan. Do a full scan. If you get any red dots, contact Samsung and have them replace your drive.

I have two 980 Pros, 2TB. One of them went bad and Samsung replaced it with a new one. The other's been working fine.

It's a brand new drive. I appreciate the effort but it's wasting both of our time when I state I have done all the obvious troubleshooting. I also mentioned samsung magician too, which should raise a red flag that I have done this already. Everything with this drive appears fine including samsung health tests. It's when I do high speed data transfers between nvme drives that makes it drop out and this makes me think it's power related and either my motherboard or power supply. It would be great if someone can confirm with me that the power supply could be the problem...

EDIT: I have since swapped the m.2 drives and the new drive seems to perform fine in slot 1 without issues. the 960 evo old drive will not drop out like the 2tb drive did in the 2nd slot but it does slow down significantly like the new drive did so I assume it's my motherboard or maybe long shot, my power supply.
