hey,
I have a gigabyte H81M-S1 (rev. 2.0) motherboard. as I read on manual it shows
  1. 1 x PCI Express x16 slot, running at x16
  2. 2 x PCI Express x1 slots
(The PCI Express slots conform to PCI Express 2.0 standard.)
now I have the rx470 graphic card installed. can I use PCIe m.2 adapters also and if I can then which one I should buy? and can I boot my pc from this m.2 SSD?

Keep in mind your motherboards x1 slots are PCI Express 2.0, which is limited to 500 MB/s. That is roughly the same as the SATA III ports on your motherboard, so there would not be any speed advantage using an x1 adapter card.
so you mean using any adapter is useless or I should buy a x4 adapter,
