Hi everyone!

I recently built a new PC and it is my first time configuring more than 1 storage device. I have windows 10 installed on the m.2 and the HDD is for mass storage. However, when I look at devices and drives under 'This PC', only the m.2 is visible. How do I fix this?

Thank You!

Check your BIOS to make sure that the HDD is recognized and/or enabled.

If it is, then it may not be partitioned/formatted. Right-click on the Start button, select Disk Management, and see if the HDD is initialized. If not, initialize it - then create a partition and format it.

Which specific drive, and which specific motherboard?
Usually, use of the m.2 port will disable one or more SATA ports.
Look in the user manual to see the allowable configurations.

The HDD shows up under device manager as well as noted to be connected to the SATA 2 port in the BIOS.

I can see the HDD in device manager as well as the BIOS.

Nope, as I have mentioned, this is a new PC build.

How do I initialize and format this HDD for use?

Go to disk management > then right click on where it says disk 0 935.51 GB (make sure you are on the right hard drive) where it says unallocated > choose new simple volume and follow the wizard menu.
I
f disk is not initialized most of the time it will prompt you to make a choice how to initialize is as MBR or GPT (GPT is the most modern partition layout) or you could initialize it yourself by right clicking on disk> initialize on contextual menu.

Thank you very much!

Do you know why it does that?
