Question M.2 Drive | GPU Lanes

Hi. I dont quite understand the foundation of how these two operate. First off i have an Asus Prime Z370-A mobo. My current OS is on an HDD and I am moving to an M.2 drive. I need clarification on how the PCIE lanes work. I have a discrete GPU connected on the first slow Gen 3 x16. Would having an M.2 impact the speed of the GPU in any way, and vice versa?

No, the M.2 will have no impact on the GPU speed. It shares lanes with SATA ports, while communicating with the chipset vs GPU communicating with CPU.
