Hey all, I'm going to be taking out the hard drive in my laptop and put in a M.2.

I have a Aspire E15 - E5 - 575G - 50MF .

I have no experience with M.2 storage, can I plug in both or can 1 type only go into 1 port? Upon research I only learnt their is a B and a M key but I can't figure what which is which etc.

Furthermore, which would be more future proof if the laptop straight up dies in the future, I would like to be able to use it on a PC system.

Thank you :)

Just open the laptop and see for yourself....
B and M key M.2 are compatible with each other, you can buy either and they will work (not to be mSata).
Just make sure the slot has only one of the notches... if it has two.. only B key will work.
These are M.2 (B-M Key) and mSATA

You cant put M.2 (B-M key or mSata) into HDD 2.5 inch cage!
If you plan to remove your HDD and swap for it SSD... you can't place them both.
Most 15.6 laptops have only one HDD Cage...
You can use both only if you swap out your DVD- Drive Cage for HDD Caddy.

Hello! Thanks for the info and reply. The laptop has a m.2 port which has the look of a M key. So based on that info b+m will work on it?
