Hi guys

I need some help with this. I build a new system recently but thé SSD i bought is only a 500 gb and i want to add more storage.

I now have a MSI B450 Tomahawk Max with a Ryzen 2700 installed , a GTX 1660 and 16gb dual channel ram .
There is only one m.2 slot on this motherboard , and there is a regular western digital Blue 500 gb m.2 drive in there (non NVME)

I was thinking of adding a 1TB m.2 using a pcie adapter (non NVME)
This just to have less cables

BUT how does this affect my pci-e lanes on my B450

Can this be a problem

Solution
The M2 Sata adapter requires you to run a sata cable to it.
You should get an NVME adapter and put that drive in there and leave the Sata M2 in the mobo slot if you're looking for less cables.

Nope.
It's also not any faster then the normal 2.5" Sata drive. Since you are looking for a less cluttered look, I think, then a 2.5" drive tucked out of the way (or out of sight) would be a cleaner look then having a cable running up to a non-nvme slot adapter in the middle of your board.
