So basically I’ve just upgraded from a Ryzen 5 5600X to a Ryzen 7 7800X3D. I’ve managed to get everything running and got into BIOS but my main boot drive will not get recognised whatsoever. It’s definitely not faulty as literally 5 mins before taking it out of the old mb and into the new one it was working.
What I’ve upgraded to is following:

Amd ryzen 7 7800x3d
Asus Tuf B650-Plus wifi
64gb ddr5 Kingston running at 6000mhz
And a pny 4070ti

If anyone has any idea as to why the drive won’t run or be recognised and has any ideas on a fix that would be great.

The drive is this:

Western Digital 500GB WD Blue SA510

Purchased only about 1 month ago and it was working 20 mins ago in a different PC.

Feel free to ask for anymore information if it’ll help.

I don't think your new mobo supports m.2 sata.

None of M.2 ports on your motherboard support SATA M.2 drives.
You'll have to use SATA M.2 adapter to use your drive.

Do you have a link to the adapter? or a make and model?
Yeh I just found out it also doesn’t support B only M. I’ve purchased a m.2 to sata adapter that support b+m so I’m hoping it’ll be fine. Its just a cheap product on amazon as I don’t have the time to wait for something to take 2 weeks to arrive. I’ve also had a look around and noticed I literally cannot find a single am5 motherboard that supports b+m they all seem to only have M key which I find odd

B+M key M.2 slot supports ONLY sata M.2 drives.
M key M.2 slot can support SATA and/or NVME M.2 drives (either one or both of them).
You have to read product specification for info on type of supported drives.

What model adapter did you purchase?

So your saying my motherboard “should” be able to support my drive? All am5 motherboard that I’ve seen only have M key m.2 slots. The drive I have is an m.2 sata drive not nvme so shouldn’t it work? I pulled it out of my pc and put it in the other pc and booted up fine.

No.
I'm saying - with M-key type M.2 slots you have to read motherboard specification.

I figured it out thank you so much.
Unfortunately now whenever I attempt to enable expo so my ram runs at the correct speed the pc will just never turn on :/
