Question M.2 slots

Hello

Is it alright to have one M.2 SSD in slot 1 and a 2nd one in slot 3? MSI Mag 650 Tomohawk had heatsinks on 1st and 3rd slots , so thats where i installed them. Would having SSD in 3rd slot impact on performance?

This is the motherboard:

PCI_E2 & M2_3 share the bandwidth. PCI_E2 will run at x2 speed and M2_3 will runat x2 speed when installing devices in both slots.
Outside of that, there's no mention of your M.2 slots sharing bandwidth with any other slots.

What SSD's are populating the aforementioned slots?

i have the following in slot near (above gpu slot) ,

Crucial P5 Plus 500 GB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive​

and nothing in 2nd slot because it had no heatsink . In 3rd slot i have the following:

Samsung 970 Evo Plus 2 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 3.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive​

What it means is that if you put a drive in the M2_3 slot (bottom right of your motherboard), it'll run at half speed if you have any kind of card in the middle PCIe_2 slot. (That PCIe slot runs at x2 speed regardless, according to the manual.)

Yes, you have latest BIOS version installed (version 7D75v17).

i don't have anything other than gpu , no other card just ssd and gpu.

i am concered with the fan noise and cpu temps , these are temps after installing windows and nothing else (idle)
and the boot up time is so long that my monitor goes to sleep. is that normal?

If you don't have anything installed in PCIe_2 then your drive performance won't be affected.

Boot up from SSD (whether it's SATA or M2) should take a matter of seconds. If yours is taking minutes then something's wrong, but now we're getting into a whole different question.
