Question m.2 ssd and intel optane 16gb

So my rig has 1 m.2 ssd 250gb and 1 2tb hdd. I found out that my motherboard has an extra m.2 slot (z390a) and I have a m.2 optane memory lying around. So I wanted to give a little boost to my hdd using the optane but with no luck.Sorry for the bad english and thank you.

Optane as a cache is more for systems using slow spinning drives for the OS drive; I'd not other with it (ever) if already running an SSD for the OS...
