[SOLVED] M.2 SSD card adapter for ThinkCentre M700 SFF

Greetings,

Can someone tell me which M.2 SSD card adapter would be compatible with the mentioned device?
I am looking for something like this:

But I am pretty certain that the pictured item is not compatible with my M700.

So, how do I identify the compatible product?

I have enclosed a picture of the slots to be found inside my M700.

What are you trying to accomplish?
If I might guess, you want to install a ssd for better performance.
I have done that on a similar unit.
The easy way is to buy a 2.5" samsung 860 evo of sufficient capacity to hold your C drive plus whatever extra you need.
Use the samsung ssd migration app to copy your C drive to the ssd.

You will need a usb to sata adapter cable to do the job.
Then simply replace the hdd with the ssd.

And will I need a separate PCI Express card in order to make the m.2 SSD work?

If I might guess, you want to install a ssd for better performance.

There are several. The link appears to refer to the 10 GS,GT,KN, KQ.
It looks like those models came with a m.2 ssd and a adapter card already.
m.2 is s size format, it does not say if the device is a sata device or a pcie device.
Some adapters can use only one, but some can use either.

How many gb of storage do you need?
Unless you need more total storage than one device can hold, a single device will work out better.

It seems that it comes with a m.2 ssd already installed using an adapter card. It is not clear if the m.2 is sata or pcie. I suspect sata.
The size of that m.2 can be changed.

You also have a secondary storage capability in the form of a conventional 2.5" drive which can be either a HDD(slow) or a ssd.

There is also the possibility that the cd space can be repurposed for storage.

If you care about security, you need EXTERNAL backup.
This is easily done by using a usb connected device.

By having important data located only within the pc, even with multiple devices, you are still exposed to many perils.
User inadvertent deletion.
Ransomware,
Fire,
drive failure,
for example.

l agree with you about the necessity of external storage. However, l believe that if you store your material on 3 separate internal drives, you are pretty well covered as well.
