I just recently did a build with an MSI b150 m3 boards everything was going great until I realized that my PCI-E M.2 SSD wasn’t showing up. I looked into it and turns out this board only supports SATA M.2 SSD’s. I felt a little stupid but then went to search for a SATA M.2 instead. I found out not long after that SATA and PCI-E M.2 have they’re own per-priority Connection for the each of them. So I was puzzled then thought how does my motherboard have the slot for a PCI-E M.2 but only supports the SATA version with a different connector. Someone please help me out

So I was puzzled then thought how does my motherboard have the slot for a PCI-E M.2 but only supports the SATA version with a different connector.
Your board supports sata M.2 drives only. NVME (PCIE) M.2 drives are not supported on your board.

M.2 slot may physically allow both types of M.2 drives to be connected. Only sata M.2 will work.
