M.2 SSD in slower motherboard slots

Hi guys, so i thought about picking up a Samsung SSD 950 Pro 512GB M.2, but I'm new to SSDs and am still using a quite old motherboard.
My question is: How much will a fast M.2 SSD be bottlenecked, if you put it in slower PCI slots.
My motherboard is the ASUS P8Z68-V so i only got PCIe 2.0 slots.

Will be getting a new motherboard next year anyway, so if this setup would be too much of a bottleneck, I'll just wait a bit.

Thanks!

You need an M.2 slot, not just a genaric PCIe slot, to run the 950 PRO. You're motherboard doesn't have an M.2 port, so you would need to buy an adapter for it.

Honestly I'd wait off on the 950 until you've upgraded your motherboard to a chipset that natively includes an M.2 slot.
