Hi

I recently bought a new PC, everything works fine, currently its using the HDD to run, but the main idea was to use a Samsung 850 EVO 256 GB M.2 SSD for the main drive.

The MoBo I bought is this one:

The problem is that the SSD doesnt get detected in any way. Nor in the BIOS nor in Windows, because I installed it in a WD HDD for using it in the meantime.

Does it have something to do with the M.2 slot from the board and the SSD? Or is it a problem of drivers?

Thanks for the help, I'm in kind of a hurry because I'm moving in 2 weeks and I need it ready for then.

Oops. That's a nice board, but its M.2 slot works with PCIe drives ONLY, not SATA drives. You'd need to get a Samsung 950 or other PCIe drive to use that slot.

Turbo M.2 32Gb/s + Turbo U.2 ready + SATA 6Gb/s

It's the 4th line in the specs in that link.

Usually a couple of SATA ports are disabled when the M.2 is in use, make sure you aren't using the SATA ports that effect the M.2 slot.
Try updating the bios.
If that fail the drive could be DOA.

It isn't published yet, but I just included that board in a roundup of H170 boards. The board has SATA 6Gb/s ports on it, but the M.2 slot is PCIe only. Furthermore, if you check the QVL, it just has PCIe M.2 drives on it.
Some boards can use either type, but not this one.
