I don't see my M.2 SSD in my windows installer or the bios setup.

I got a Asrock B450 Pro4 motherboard and I'm using the Samsung 860 Evo SATA M.2 SSD which is occupying the Ultra M.2 socket (M2_1).

I'm using M2_1 for my M.2 SSD, PCIE2 for graphics card & SATA3_2 for my hard drive.

On my motherboard handbook it says:
- 6 SATA3 Connectors 6.0 Gb/s
- if M2_1 is occupied, PCIE4 will be disabled (PCIE4 isn't occupied)
- M2_2, SATA3_3 & SATA3_4 share lanes, if either one is in use others will be disabled (all of them are unoccupied)

I think I've listed all the relevant info I could find from the handbook. This is my first ever PC build so treat me as a noob please.

Solution
From the specs:
https://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/B450%20Pro4/index.asp#Specification
----------------------------
- 1 x Ultra M.2 Socket (M2_1), supports M Key type 2242/2260/2280 M.2 PCI Express module up to Gen3 x4 (32 Gb/s) (with Summit Ridge, Raven Ridge and Pinnacle Ridge)**
- 1 x M.2 Socket (M2_2), supports M Key type 2230/2242/2260/2280/22110 M.2 SATA3 6.0 Gb/s module and M.2 PCI Express module up to Gen3 x2 (16 Gb/s)**
----------------------------

The 860 EVO is a SATA m.2 drive. As such, it must go in the M2_2 port. It will not work in that Ultra (M2_1)

Additionally, the M2_2 shares resources with SATA ports 3 & 4.

You can only use ONE of those.

Solution

The M.2_1 supports only M.2 PCI Express. That Samsung M.2 is a SATA SSD.
You need to connect that Samsung M.2 SSD to the M.2_2, which supports both PCI Express and SATA.
