This is the SSD I bought: Western Digital WDS500G2B0B WD Blue 3D NAND Internal SSD M.2 SATA, 500 GB

This is my motherboard: Gigabyte Z170-HD3P

If I put the ssd in while the computer is on It doesnt detect that the SSD is there via my computer or Macrium Reflect. However when I put the SSD in when the computer is turned off and boot again the computer prompt me to select the right boot drive but their is no way of actually selecting it when the error screen comes up. The SSD gets warm to the touch so it isnt completely dead and the computer can somewhat detect it off a boot yet doesnt when I insert it post boot. Cany anyone help me?

Solution

Do not connect internal components, while computer is turned on! Only external devices like USB connected ones can be connected while computer is on.
And do not touch internal components also, while pc is on!
You're gonna kill your pc.
