M.2 SSD not displaying in windows setup

Motherboard: Gigabyte z170x Gaming 7

I have no other drives besides the m2 SSD drive. Bios does detect the drive but windows 7 set up will not. Any ideas?

If it's an NVMe drive Windows 7 does not have native support and needs a driver.

Id I'm installing a clean windows install I can't really apply the fix above, since it requires windows to be installed. Does windows 10 support nvme drives?

Yes, Windows 10 has native support.

It is possible to slipstream a driver into a 7 install but overall you're better off with Windows 10.
