Question M.2 SSD Not Recognized by Motherboard

Just built this PC and everything seemed to be working fine until I tried installing Windows. The PC is unable to recognize the SSD as something for windows to be downloaded on. Inside of BIOS, it states that SATA Port 3 shares bandwidth with M2_2 and Ultra M2_2 supports PCIe and NVMe. Was really hoping it was going to be as simple as plugging the SSD into the motherboard and getting to play. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Specs:
Motherboard: ASRock B450M Steel Legend
M.2 SSD: WD Blue 3D NAND WDS500G2B0B

Upon further research it shows that my m.2 ssd is not supposed in the “ultra m.2” slot on the motherboard, but moving it to the other m.2 slot on the motherboard fails to even let bios run as the monitor says I need to restart the computer with a proper boot drive.
