I am building a gaming rig and found out my motherboard supports a M.2 SSD and was wondering if getting a 64gb or 32gb just for my OS would be a good idea or no? I have a 250gb ssd and a 1tb hhd going into the computer but thought it would be nice to have a separate storage for my OS away from everything else. Thanks for any help I can get on this subject.

This is my build if anyone wanted to know.

Solution
I have everything on the list already purchased so whats on the list is already my build just wanted to find out somethings about the M.2 ssd. My plan was to use the ssd for OS and all my games originally (with the exception of a few games that would go on the hhd) with the 1tb hhd for everything else like music, files and etc but after doing some looking around i realized that I may not have enough space so I got thinking about putting the most used games on the ssd and putting the OS somewhere else maybe another ssd but found out I could use a M.2 but don't know much about the M.2.

Most M.2 drives use a SATA 600 controller that tops out at around the same speed as a SATA SSD .
Samsungs XP941 [ and later models in this series ] + drives from Plextor are the exceptions.
There was a guy here a few days ago who said he was booting from cold in 2.5 seconds using the Samsung . This is definitely faster than the 7.5 seconds it takes me to boot using a SATA SSD

I dont think these fast M.2 drives are available in capacities below 120 gig .

Either way I dont think I would bother at this time
