Hi, I have a B450-F motherboard, and got a M.2 SSD for Christmas (Samsung 980 1TB). The standoffs I have don't fit and I need to know what size to use, I'm planning on using M.2_1 as 2 has weird little screws already in.
Thanks!

Solution
The motherboard did come with correct standoffs 100%. They might be in the box though, and if you lost them you are screwed.
However I bet those "weird hexagonal things" are in fact standoffs you look for. They can be freely moved from one slot to another.
If I understand correctly, your problem is you don't have the proper screw to affix the M.2 to your motherboard?

Or do you not have the standoff into which the screw fits?

Or do you have a standoff, but it's wrong for some reason?

The weird little screws are normally supplied with the motherboard, not the drive. They are not standardized.

Normally, I'd expect the motherboard to include both a standoff with the screw already screwed into it. You remove the screw, attach the drive, lever it down, and then reinstall the screw to pin the M.2 down.

Sorry for not being clear, I don't have the correct standoff, and because of that I also don't know which screw to use.

The bottom socket seems to have weird hexagonal things (?) sticking out, but I'm not even going to use that one because it, according to my motherboard guide, shares bandwidth with PCIE x16.

I'd also think that standoffs would come already placed in, especially for seemingly smalls ones like this, but there are none.
