Hello,
I have a Gigabyte B450M DS3H (rev. 1.x) motherboard.
Connected to the motherboard's M.2 slot is a Samsung 970 Pro SSD.

I bought this M.2-to-PCIe adapter:
https://www.amazon.com/Adapter-advanced-solution-Controller-Expansion/dp/B07JKH5VTL

The seller told me that I can connect an M.2 SATA SSD and an M.2 NVMe SSD to the adapter.
I connected the adapter to the PCIe x4 slot on motherboard, then put an M.2 SATA SSD in it (I have a GPU in the PCIe x16 slot).

The computer does not recognize the adapter or the SSD that's mounted on it.
Will it recognize it if I put an NVMe SSD in it?
Or is it not possible to add an M.2 SSD at all because I am using the M.2 slot or the PCIe x16 slot on the motherboard?

Thanks.

Do you have the same constellation configuration as I have, a graphics card as well as an M.2 SSD on the motherboard?

Does your adapter work with M.2 NVMe or M.2 SATA SSDs ?

Thanks

There are some adapters that can do SATA over PCIe, but they need an on-PCB chip. This one lacks it. So you need to put the M.2 SATA into the correct slot (top one not labeled "NVMe") and connect an SATA cable from the AIC to your motherboard. The SATA port on the motherboard must be active; in some cases, some SATA ports may be disabled for conflicts with PCIe slot and M.2 slot usage. In this case, the motherboard's bottom x16 slot (physical) is x4 PCIe 2.0 logical with no conflicts that I can see. An M.2 NVMe SSD in the correct M.2 slot on the AIC should be seen in the BIOS/UEFI. Check there first. It it shows, it should also show in Device Manager, but not necessarily in Disk Management (sometimes DiskPart is required).

Sata M.2 drive requires sata data cable connection from adapter to motherboard.
And only one of M.2 slots on adapter supports SATA M.2 drives.
The other slot is only for NVME drives.
