Hello All,
I am planning on buying a 980 Pro 2TB for a holiday gift for a PS5, but want to make sure I can update to the latest firmware prior to PS5 installation. My motherboard is a MSI z690 Carbon Wifi which is not compatible with M.2s that already have a heatsink installed and I do not want to remove the heatsink to install it into the PC just to have to put it back on. Also trying to avoid a PCI-E adapter since a USB C would likely get more use in the future.
Would it be feasible to buy a USB C adapter (can't find one compatible with a heatsink already on the m.2 and then just not close the lid/cover and update the firmware through Magician or is that likely to prevent hte device from reading the m.2 without the cover closed? Thank you for any help or suggestions.
