[SOLVED] M.2 undetected on Asrock b250m-hdv

I’ve messaged Asrock support and have yet to receive a reply. My issue:

M.2 undetected only when it sits on this board alone. I had a HDD originally connected in order to clone its content onto the M.2. After the cloning process, I removed the HDD and attempted to boot into the M.2 with no success. I’ve changed BIOS settings and I’ve removed the CMOS; no changes. When I reconnect the HDD and go into the boot menu, the M.2 is detected and I can boot from it. I’d like to just run this mobo with just the M.2. Any ideas? I’m stumped.

Solution
Cloning won't work because your hard drive was not using NVMe.

NVMe (non-volatile memory express) is a host controller interface and storage protocol created to accelerate the transfer of data between enterprise and client systems and solid-state drives (SSDs) over a computer's high-speed Peripheral Component Interconnect Express (PCIe) bus.

Cloning will require including NVMe driver.
