I know Western Digital adquired Sandisk some time ago.
So heres the story, my brother bought 2 identical SSD: M.2 WD Blue NAND 3D 1TB (SATA).
In the morning I installed the first one on a brand new Asus X570 TUF Gaming Plus (BIOS was updated to the lastest version available) + R5 3600 + 2x8GB Corsair DDR4 3200 + Geforce GTX 750Ti. Working PC for his girlfriend.
(I know the X570 seems like too much but it was at a very good discount price, and really there wasn't any other decent boards availables).
One hour ago he finish building and installing a second PC at his home, using a Asus A320M-K + R5 1500X + 2x8GB DDR4 2400 (yes he is using some slow RAM) + Geforce GTX 1060 (Working/Gaming PC for him)
We put 1 new SSD on each PC. They show up in BIOS as a M.2 Sandisk drive, and when we finish installing Windows 10 64 bits (2004 ), we checked the device manager and it shows Sandisk too.
Are this drives fake ones?, or....
Anyone knows if this may have to be with some "colaboration" between the two companies?, or....
What could be going on?
Both PC work just fine, no problem for now. I just found this really strange.
Thanks for any answer that may share some light on this.
