Question M+b key to pcie

Ive bee mooking for a pcie carrier board for this

But all i find is m only mainly and a few b only. Will mthat hdd work in an m only or do i need a special board to do this?

the nvme is B+M since it has 2 slots

M key has 1 slot
B + M has 2 slots

it won't fit into an M slot only. you might need to buy a PCIe adapter.

Im trying to use this drive in a pcie slot. right now ive been using this via a usb but i set up my RPi to do SMB now and want to put it internal to my pc.

So im specifically looking for M+B key support. Does that card require the SATA in? dont want to add more cords if i dont have too.

Trying to put the drive internal of my pc. I actually tried both of those before i found the one im currently using neither one lasted a 2 days. Writing to them threw errors and wasnt able to read it in the end. Maybe just my luck but got replacements that did the same thing so i just sent them back.

That motherboard does not have an M.2 port. Either M.2 SATA or M.2 NVMe.

An NVMe drive in a PCIe slot adapter is unlikely to be able to be used as the boot drive.

Yeah, the only solution here that makes any sense is just gotta a standard 2.5" SATA SSD drive. Every jury-rigged option has a huge downside like, for example, not being able to use it as your boot drive.

its not a boot drive. I have an 2.5" SSD as boot. The M.2 would be strictly storage for SMB rear/write for RPi's

Just add another 2.5" SATA III SSD.

I already have that M.2 was hoping to do something with it rather then have it sitting on my desk hooked up to a usb port but i dont want anymore cords in my pc lol

Both #2 and #7 require the SATA Cable for B+M key which I dont want to have. Thank you for the info and advice.
