I wished I still had the SB16 music kind, not the current SB technology. Screws up the music's old-schoolness with the synthesized midi.

Yes DOOM II does work on WinXP in raw, but it won't have sound and will run poorly. ZDoom is the only thing so far that works.

ZDoom the only thing that works? There are several programs out there, like PRBoom/GLBoom/Doom Legacy, and more ports that works under Win XP

My system: Intel Pentium 4 3.0, 800FSB / TwinMOS 1Gb DDR400 / MSI 875P Neo / Sapphire Radeon 9800Pro / Antec TruePower 550W / 2x Western Digital Raptor / Hercules G.T XP /
SamsungDVD / Lite-On CDRW

I've used catalyst 3.6

My card is Gigabyte Radeon 9000 (non Pro, 64 MB)

I said SO FAR, since I had only posted somewhere to get info on properly making it work and someone pointed me to ZDoom.

Not sure what you mean by so far, but there are several ports that works with sound, highres and all. Sorry if I bothered you or something, that was not my intention.

Did you mean that by the time you asked which port that could run under ZDoom, you were only pointed to ZDoom?

No lol, I asked how can I play Doom II properly on WinXP, and I was referred to ZDoom.

Oh and heh, didn't mean to sound mean or anything, these days ya gotta use smileys after each sentence lol.

Didn't you say you thought ZDoom was the only port able to
run properly on Win XP then? Ah, confusion..
And I was not trying to be a besserwisser either or anything, just wanted to point out how flawlessly GLBoom works on Win XP too 😛

Oh and yes, without smileys, we get all confused and immidiately jump to the conclusion that someone got offended

Screw you..........................

There, works right when you mock someone but smile eh!

On the topic, actually, I really didn't know more ports had been out. Since I jumped right in to find ZDoom and it worked right, I never had any need to further look. Still, I will miss the old SB16 music, since it was so simple. Ahh the 486 days.

Hah, right on it...you nearly had me fooled again before I saw that smiley 😛

Well, PRBoom/GLBoom (same program except GLBoom supports OpenGL), is more like original Doom without jumping and such mods. I go for purism when I play Doom
As we speak, I'm making some maps for that engine... 😉

486...Yeah there sure were some nice spots with the old times...

2000 doesn't eat several hundred megs of disk space for $hitty system restore, and low disk space ballon doesn't pop up in every 2 minute when you have low disk space in a drive. (I know it can be disabled, but not in a easy way).

It is so easy to disable system restore for those who cannot afford a decent harddrive that it was a waste of text typing the system resotre as a negative point man!

 Heatsinks, if you dont overclock, use the STOCK!

You're back???

I can make WinXP almost Win2000 like, but it requires many tweaking.
