M11X-R2 upgrade to 16GB

My M11XR2 has 2 modules of Samsung 4GB 2Rx8 PC3-10600S-09-11-F3 (M471B5273DH0-CH9)... I wanted to upgrade to 16GB (2 x 8GB modules). I tried using Transcend and Crucial (8GB DDR3 1600) modules but both attempts had problems.

I noticed that the BIOS detects the 16GB RAM but the operating system (Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit) crashes on boot up.

Any suggestions?

From specifications found so far for the Alienware M11X-R2 notebook, total system memory supported is 8 GB. It doesn't appear that more than 8 GB is supported.
