Hi guys,

I have a Asus z97-a as a motherboard and I recently bought this M.2 ssd: https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820167462 .

My computer doesn't seem to recognize the ssd even tho it says on a website: ''The M.2 port is located in between the processor socket and the PCI Express expansion slots, and is compatible with 2260- and 2280-type storage devices. There are also six SATA3 ports and one SATA Express port.'' This should work as the ssd I bought is M.2 2280 and PCI-Express 3.0 x4. I tried to go to the Bios and I changed the PCI to M.2 mode and still doesn't work. I also have another ssd but it is a SATA ssd if that could have any impact (link: https://www.staples.ca/fr/samsung-d...bkqYnXASQ6Vsi0eeQGKepyk3NFoUdGZhoCg1gQAvD_BwE )

Can you guys help me? Thank you!

Did you know that your M2 slot is only has 2 pcie lanes so the 660p drive will not work at full speed.
You could buy an adapter to slot it in the pcie3x16 slot but that will drop your graphics card to x8 lanes; which isn't much of a hit in terms of GPU performance but some people don't wish to do that.

popatim, so does that mean that my motherboard cannot ''run'' it because it has 2 pcie lanes vs 4, or just that the ssd will be slower than what it is supposed to be. At the moment, my motherboard simply won't detect the ssd at all and I wouldn't mind having a slower ssd, but I don't think I would reduce the allowance of my gpu. So I guess this ssd would work since it's a PCI-Express 3.0 x2? : https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820242466

Yes it will work, just not at full speed.
