Hi guys,

I am facing a strange issue with my new WD-Black sn850x on my ASUS rog maximus hero xi wifi. I installed the m2 in a slot that previously had a working m2 ssd.
Now the new ssd does show up in BIOS under Advanced\NVME controller and Drive information, however it does not show up as an actual drive.

sadly I cannot access device manager at all now. My windows is all messed up.
Then reinstall windows.
Your M.2 drive is being detected properly.
m2 appeared in the device manager before, however not properly in bios, nor on file explorer or windows storage spaces.
New drive has to be partitioned, formatted and drive letter assigned first, before it can be accessed via file explorer.
All of that can be done in Disk Management. Also - done automatically during installation of windows.

Also the m2 yet is back within the device manager but missing within disk management.
Install motherboard chipset drivers. You haven't installed them.
(Intel Chipset Driver in downloads/chipset section)

Check Windows Storage Spaces (Control Panel\Storage Spaces).
If new drive appears there, remove it from storage pool and delete the pool.
Then is should appear in Disk Management.

Make sure in BIOS
SATA controller is set to AHCI and
Intel RST is disabled.

Thanks a lot, after a lot of back and fourth with bios and windows, I managed to finally map all 3 drives installed ☺️.
Now I will have to figure out why I am always thrown into bios upon restart and move windows to the new ssd.

Ok, CSM was completely disabled already. I tried turning CSM on and UEFI mode on all options, the outcome was the same, system POSTing back in safe mode, bios.

CMOS battery seems fine too, always showing correct date and time

All drives are double checked
