A year ago I bought an m2 enclosure which I payed 5 USD dollars for. I wanted to test one day, and I discovered that Intel 660p drive doesn't show up when I connect it, and neither does the 970 evo which I tried in it too. Then I found the old box for enclosure and then it m2 Sata.

I know M2 sata and M2 PCIE are different standard, eventhough I can insert a M2 PCIE into the enclosure. So am I correct to assume the reason why it doesn't recognize neither of the drives is that its needs a M2 SATA drive to function?

If yes which m2 drives support m2 sata?

The 660p and 970 are NVMe.
Will not work in a SATA adapter, even though it may physically fit.

It would work with a Samsung 860 EVO/Crucial MX500/WD Blue M.2.

Can not work like that. Intel 660p is M.2 PCIe NVMe drive. Your drive enclosure is supposed to be used only with M.2 SATA drives. So you must get M.2 SATA drive (have 2 notches in connector) for this drive enclosure. M.2 SATA Samsung 870 EVO, M.2 SATA Samsung 860, M.2 SATA Crucial MX500 and so on. Avoid Kingston A.... something - they are garbage.
