I want to buy another SSD for my system:
-AMD Ryzen 5 2600
-GTX 1050Ti 4GB Dual OC
-16 gb ram ddr4 3000mhz dual channel
-intel 545 ssd 256gb
-hdd wd blue 1tb 7200rpm 64mb
-Gigabyte B450m ds3h
I want to know if my CPU and my mobo supports an m2 sata/nvme ssd and if there is any difference between m2 nvme and m2 sata, I found 2 m2 ssds:
-SSD GIGABYTE 128GB PCI Express 3.0 x2 M.2 2280
-SSD Plextor M8VG 128GB SATA-III M.2 2280
I want to know if the extra money spend on the m2 nvme will make any difference or if i should get the m2 sata.

NVME SSDs connect to a PCIE slot and as a result achieve faster speeds than SATA connected drives.

However you probably wouldnt notice the difference if you're not moving massive amounts of data around.

That board does have an NVME slot (just above the to PCIE Slot) so you are ok

Worth the extra money? in most cases no.

The "sata 3" M2 SDD as you might had noticed have sata 3 speeds and and are typically slower than the NVME M2 SDDs.
That is because some MBs although they have M2 slots have sata 3 controllers on them.
Or they have 1 M2 slot with NVME controller and 1 M2 slot with sata 3 controller (just like my MB).
So if your MB has sata 3 controller on her M2 interface then it would be probably cheaper to buy the SATA 3 SSD.
But in most cases they have at least one M2 with NVME controller.

Prices on NVME M.2 drives have come down significantly in the last 18 months, no longer having a $100 premium even for a 500 GB variant...($250 vs. $150)

I could not see *not* choosing one if you have an available NVME slot...especially if on sale! I think the drives being some 6 times faster at peak sequential reads is worth it...with the 970 EVO Plus now being even faster yet....
