Hey guys!

I'm new to this forum so I hope I'm following the proper procedure with writing new posts! I'm pretty excited to become part of this community.

There is a conflicting info on the HP page for this M2N68-LA (Narra6) motherboard that says max ram for this motherboard is 4GB ddr3 240 chip set ram but then I saw someone on sevenforums.com says that 64-bit OS are able to support up to 8GB max ram....Preview

I just want to upgrade my ram from 1GB to 8GB(2x4GB)....but my current OS is Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit but 64-bit capable base on Performance Information and Tools.....Preview

So do I need to upgrade my OS to 64-bit then only install 8GB of ram or should I just install 4GB of ram on my current 32-bit OS or what??Please help....

Solution
You must have a newer version than the ones I saw online. I just re-read your original post - looks like 2GB per slot, if the 4GB total is correct. Can you post a link to the page you referenced?

Yes, the frequency decides how fast the DRAM can operate. The higher the frequency, the higher the speed. There's a limit to how much your mobo and CPU can support, though. Should say on the support page.
The 32-bit OS will only see and use 4GB of DRAM. If you want to use 8GB, you'd need to upgrade to the 64-bit. The motherboard itself is capable of supporting four 2GB 800MHz DDR2 memory sticks, for a total of 8GB.

It's a little confusing, but the OS max and the motherboard max are not always the same.

My motherboard only have 2 ram slots...The ram that currently on my motherboard is 1GB DDR3 ,btw I want my pc to be more faster....does the frequency affect the performance of my pc?

I know I am replying to older thread but I mean my answer can help users which are interested in this.

I have motherboard labeled as M2N68-LA (REV: 6.02) which have two DDR3 RAM slots.
Originally I had one 4 GB DDR3 RAM memory installed.

I bought a 2x4 GB DDR3 1333MHz CL9 1.5V (dual channel ,single rank) RAM and computer works fine with 8GB of RAM.
When I open Task manager I can see that I have 8GB RAM installed, HWInfo also says that. And when I played GTA V multiplayer last time my system totally used around 6,5 GB of RAM :)

But when I entered BIOS, It look like BIOS does not recognize RAM because it says Installed memory 0 MB.

So, 8GB RAM (2x4GB) work in this motherboard, only BIOS does not recognize it (but it does not matter).

Narra6 Mother board supports up to 16gb ram, this is my current setup

Narra6 motherboard 16GB ram = mind blown!

Nothing was done to make this work, except I did read windows 7 or windows 10 professional was required. I could be completely wrong though as I've never tested any home editions.
