Question m40x being too quiet?

i dont have the money for an amplifier, my new m40x are wayyyyy too quiet, any idea as to why?

Those headphones should not need an amp to drive them, is the cable inserted all the way on both sides? Did you make sure the volume is up in Windows and the program you are using to play the sound? Try them on other devices?

yes, they do, windows volume is up, mute when speak is off, i use realtek audio, i made sure its all plugged
